A 51-year-old woman was charged with assault after police said she refused to leave a 7-Eleven on Long Island and struck an officer.
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at the store, located at 910 West Merrick Road in Valley Stream, at about 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, the Nassau County Police Department reported.
Police were told that a woman, identified as Rosemary Garcia, of Valley Stream, ate food and drank beer without purchasing it over the course of three hours, police said.

A Long Island has been charged with multiple counts of criminal mischief after allegedly tire spikes at various police facilities, causing damage to vehicles.

A Long Island woman was charged after allegedly hitting and spitting on police officers when her son was pulled over for a traffic stop.
The incident took place around 2 p.m., Monday, July 4 in Levittown.
Melinda Medina, age 47, of Levittown, was arrested after police pulled over her 20-year-old son for having an expired tag and inspection sticker, said the Nassau County Police.

A man is in custody after police say he crashed into two vehicles, including a patrol cruiser, while he was impaired by drugs during a pursuit on Long Island, police said.
